Review Methodology
Fabrikant Tech tests every SSD hands-on before recommending it. Each drive runs as a daily driver for 2 weeks, then goes through sustained benchmarks and thermal logs.
What we measure
Sequential read/write, random 4K, SLC cache recovery, and temperature under 30-minute sustained writes. Throttle threshold is 70-80C controller temp. We log idle 30-45C vs load, with and without motherboard heatsink.
Per-class rules
SATA never throttles. Gen3 rarely. Gen4 throttles under sustained writes without heatsink. Gen5 mandates real heatsink. Placement matters: top slot under GPU runs hotter than secondary chipset slot.
